Happy Anniversary Sheng Chi

Shifu Liz's picture

Well, by the time I'm done typing this it will be Sheng Chi's seventh Anniversary.

Looking back on it with a sense of humor, we were flat broke, Plan A was shaky at best and there was no Plan B.

By the Grace of God we are here.

Looking back on it seriously, I am overwhelmed with memories and emotions of what it was like to sit at Da' Shifu' table, only he wasn't there, and tell Marilyn, the woman I loved and trusted, goodbye. As if it wasn't bad enough her new boyfriend John was there as well, sitting in Da' Shifu's chair. Marilyn cried and cried, hugged us hard and told us she loved us and that everything would be alright. Four days later she had John serve us with eviction papers. The rest as they say "is history".

Honestly I very rarely think of Marilyn, but when I do I wonder how often she thinks of me.

It's so easy in any stressful situation to only look at hard it is, or what went wrong. The last seven years have had it's challenges for sure, but I am now able to look back and see that for every one thing that went wrong, a million things went right, and that is what I think back on now.

Thank you to all the people, past and present, who believed in us and our purpose. (Some of you confessed later that you thought we were crazy and that we'd never make it, but to our faces you didn't have the heart to say so.)

Although it has been a highly personal experience, I do know that it was and will always be about the Shou' Shu'.

I don't know what happens after death, if the soul has a sense of happy or unhappy, but I'd like to think that Da' Shifu is happy.

I know I say this every year, but maybe next year we'll have a party.

Train Hard, see you all next week.

Most sincerely yours,
Shifu Liz

Anniversary

I echo the thanks of the others. I shudder to think of what I would be without having found you two. I wouldn't have known what was wrong, but I definitely know now what is right with my life. My plan is to carry this art into my old age which begins next week I think.

Happy Anniversary!!!!

To SS Weaver and Shifu Liz,

Happy Anniversary! I am soooo glad that I found your school. It's hard to believe that it has been almost 3 and a half years that I've been training there. Thank you for preserving the art the way Da Shifu Sr. would have taught it had he still been around. You two are doing an outstanding job and I am honored to be part of it. Thank you to you two and a anniversary party would be a lot of fun. We still need to all get together and have a shou shu movie night.
