Section Four- Two hand wrist grab
A. Escape
1. Begin by explaining “going against the thumb”. Show (not teach) different methods of going against thumb. Teach drop under escape.
2. From cat stance teach driving to deep horse. Have partners give resistance until students feel power from the legs, floating the foot to a deep horse. Work on maintaining centerline. Show them that if they reach they are unstable and can be pulled over.
3. Have students do escape then drive to a horse. While doing so have partners fall back and pull hard on students left hand. Students should be able to maintain horse without being pulled forward.
B. Soft bow
1. Starting from wu chi, teach stepping to soft bow.
2. Have students hold soft bow while you go from student to student perfecting stance for them. If one student stands up or loses stance, start over with that student. The goal is to keep starting over until all the students legs are burning thereby burning the muscle memory in. If you can’t finish the whole class and you are starting to lose ground, let them stand up and shake out their legs then start over. Tell them they can’t stop until the whole class can hold a perfect soft bow together for five seconds. Do this a few times. They should figure it out and be able to go right to the stance after burning them a few times.
3. Have them go horse to soft bow several times while you call it off
4. Have them go horse to soft bow, back to horse, soft bow on opposite side. Do this back and forth calling off “right” “horse” “left” keeping hands help up in center.
5. Have students get into soft bow and have partner put weight on their shoulders. Have students lift partners using their legs.
C.Soft Bow to Hard Bow
1. From soft bow position have partners put weight on students shoulders. Have students drive back making sure that both legs are doing the lifting.
2. From soft bow position with left leg forward, put left hand over shoulder. Have partners put both hands on students left hand. Students drive to hard bow pushing partner back. Do this until students can focus all of their drive forward to a deep hard bow.
3. Do same with students hitting bag instead of pushing partner
4. From same soft bow put right hand at left shoulder and teach students to use drive to whip cutting back knuckle pulling elbow down. Use a focus mitt.
5. Do same with cutting back knuckle to heel palm on bag.
D. Two hand wrist grab
1. Put technique together by the numbers in air 1) Escape 2)drive to horse taking opponents centerline 3) Chop to soft bow 4) Raise both hands to left shoulder protecting face with elbow 5) Back knuckle –eye spear 6) cover
2. Lead students through technique by numbers on opponents
3. Let them do it on their own on opponents
4. Line them up and do by numbers again
5. Do Tai Chi Slow
6. Do by numbers again
7. Do medium speed by numbers
Section Five- Two hand wrist grab variation
(This is to get students used to doing the technique with the opponent pushing pulling or just grabbing)
1) Explain to student that they should never let their arms be pulled away from them. If they are all they have to do is to step forward.
2) Teach two hand wrist grab stepping with the left foot as opponent pulls them then doing the technique as normal. Opponents should pull themselves off of center if the students go with them well.
3) Pair them up and have opponents grab and pull
4) Have opponents grab in different manners (pushing, pulling, or just grabbing to restrain) and have students react appropriately.

Comments
9/20 kids group- on section
9/20 kids group- on section 2 had students pair on on 3 hands of china to see were opponents were. Also added a softbow mat drill on two hand wrist grab. Did not make it to part 5, the variation.
