International Shou Shu Association

A retired (1996) USAF Capt. In the military I was a B-52 crew member, instructor and evaluator. I am currently an Air Force Junior ROTC instructor at Tivy High School in Kerrville TX (50 miles west of San Antonio on I-10). The Air Force transferred me at the end on 1990, after the Gulf War and Desert Storm, I spent 5 years as a Professional Military Education Instructor at Maxwell AFB in Alabama where I retired from active duty. Upon my retirement I became a high school Air Force Junior ROTC instructor - first in the Rio Grande Valley and now in Kerrville.

I was trained in Northern Shou Shu in 1988 - 90 at the Merced Studio under Shun Shifu Dennis Jones. Other incredibly talented Shifus I was fortunate enough to train under were Shifus McDaniel, Hernandez and Michelle (Ramirez). It was a privilege to meet Da Shifu Al Moore Sr at testing and during the two Shou Shu camps I attended. Shun Shifu Jones also introduced me to a 5th Degree at the time he called "the Best Shifuist under Da'Shifu" - Shun Shifu (at the time) Clark.

In my (YASS) years after Shou Shu, I worked out with practitioners of many other styles: Shotokan and Yoshukai Japanese systems, and the Korean Tang Soo Do and Tukong Moosul systems. Each time, I have found Northern Shou Shu to be so much more superior to the other forms,

I would like to find a Shou Shu Studio in Texas to continue my training. Then, with the help of the ISSA, start teaching Shou Shu in the Hill Country of Texas or even San Antonio.
